Your culinary vacation will take you to the heart of France, the Loire Valley, home to Le Calabash Cooking School, set in the picturesque French countryside on the river Creuse. Your hosts, husband and wife team Sidney and Alison, are internationally acclaimed chefs who have held positions in award winning establishments around the world. They have cooked for royalty, presidents, film and rock stars, and have won numerous awards and medals in international competitions.
Your week includes hands-on experiences in the kitchen where you will learn to prepare dishes that are impressive (but easy to prepare at home), paired with wines from the Loire Valley and nearby Bordeaux. You will also learn to make Macarons and Chocolate Bon Bons, as well as enjoy Chef Sidney's famous Zulu BBQ. When not in the kitchen, you will tour the world- renowned Chateau de Chenonceau, as well as visit the French market in Tours, a centuries old cheese farm, and a 7th generation wine estate. When it is time to relax, you will enjoy your luxury accommodations at Les Sorels, the birthplace of Agnes Sorel in 1422. She was thought to have been the most beautiful woman in France and the first official mistress of a French king, Charles VII, who reigned from 1422-1461.
